Ted McElroy had astonishing talent in typing (well over 150 wpm) and he added to that copying Morse at a record 76 wpm. In 1934 he began producing his own speed-keys. Photo credits of the Mac to KE5C

Status: RARE. Twenty-four of this type known. LORD of the KEYS The 1936a, or early '36 Mac had the brass plate. Only about 20 of this vintage are registered as known. This key, just the right amount of ugly, handles like a dream at slow speeds, ironic from the World's Fastest Telegrapher, and gives every impression of having never been used.

From every angle this key is simply flawless. I always pull it out to use for an operator who desires slow code. It has a soft main-spring with a lot of movement. It will go fast, but does not feel as compfortable.

This vintage had the cast dash pivot. All following Mac keys had some form of the Vibroplex "ears," and none of them behave as adroitly.

Special about this vintage and early, is the cast wording in the bottom. Some people misinterpret the age based upon the 9-34 casting which was on all his keys from '34 to '36, but not after. The casting makes these rare keys highly sought after. I am very proud to own and use this rare and fine key.
